Auf Deutsch

Tailor-made German Tuition

Passionate about working with people

My Background

photo by Gerhard MaurerHi, my name is Tatjana Sacherer. I started Auf Deutsch in 2007 to offer a friendly, professional and customized language tuition service that can be accessed online from any location.

I am delighted to say that I have taught over 5000 lessons live-online to students from many different countries. Supporting my online students with their German studies has given me a deeper understanding of different learner motivations and learning styles - and confirmed to me the high demand for flexible learning programmes that fit in with modern busy lifestyles.

With the number of my private students steadily increasing, I am now able to work full time as a private language tutor. While I teach some face-to-face classes locally, my main work focus is placed on developing and teaching tailor-made live-online courses to individuals and small groups.

My teaching approach is communicative, caring and learner-centred. It is my belief that positive learning experiences can make a big difference to someone's life and I feel passionate about accompanying my students on their personal learning journeys.

Working with people is something I have always enjoyed. I was born and raised in Austria and hold a Master’s degree in German Philology (Germanistik) and History and Social Studies (Geschichte und Sozialkunde) from the University of Klagenfurt. In addition to my teaching qualification, I gained a Diploma in Counselling (Diplomierte Ehe,-Familien- und Lebensberaterin) at the Austrian Caritas Association.

Prior to Auf Deutsch, I spent more than 16 years working as a teacher and trainer in Austria and in the UK. Since I moved to England in 1999, I have gained extensive experience of teaching German as a Foreign Language – as a lecturer at the University of Westminster in London and as a trainer for Business German in a wide variety of London based companies. Amongst other language service providers, I worked for Babel Language and Cultural Training, one of the UK’s leading providers of corporate language training.

In 2007, I took part in an EU-funded pilot project called LANCELOT: LANguage learning with CErtified Live Online Teachers. I completed the LANCELOT training programme with distinction.

I live in a small village in West Sussex (UK) with my partner and our son. In my leisure time, I am learning Italian, and at the weekends I enjoy exploring the beautiful English countryside with my family.
